Trump Slammed German Carmakers and Threatened to Stop Their Sales in The US

According to German publication Der Spiegel, President Trump used the meeting with European officials on Thursday to threaten to stop German car sales in the US.

His goal is to stop German car makers from selling “millions of cars” in the US. Spiegel was able to get the information directly from participants in the meeting.

According to Reuters, Trump is after imposing a hefty import tax of 35% on German cars coming into the US starting from January.

BMW, one of the biggest German automaker, is building the models X3, X4, X5 and X6 in a facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

But Trump is referring to all German automakers, and not just BMW.

This includes Mercedes-Benz with a manufacturing facility in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Volkswagen in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
