Donald Trump’s plan regarding the budget will include $800 billion in cuts to Medicaid. This information was confirmed by a senior administration official to CNN on Sunday. The House legislation to dismantle the Affordable Care Act would notably curtail federal support for Medicaid.
This means that states that expanded the program won’t receive enhanced funding to cover low-income adults in 2020.
The Affordable Care Act (also known as Obamacare) covers adults, disabled Americans and more than 70 million low-income children.
Many Republican members expressed a concern about the Medicaid. Trump will be cutting a program that has provided treatment for Americans battling drug addiction, and insurance to many of lower-income constituents.
